When Did I Lose Summer
Life Story / Motion Design / Cel-Animation / Illustration
TIMELINE: 6 weeks
PROJECT TYPE: Motion Design
ROLE IN THE PROJECT: Solo Project
Objective
This was the Final project for my master's program. As my student life draws closer, I reflect on my childhood memories, especially the carefree summers filled with endless freedom and joy. However, as the years have passed, these memories of summer have dimmed, overshadowed by more challenging times marked by pain, sadness, and feeling overwhelmed. This shift in recollection is a profound part of what I've recognized as the process of "growing up." Through this motion piece, I aim to recapture and honor that essence of summer—a time when happiness seemed eternal.
Story
Summer lingers in my memory with a particular sweetness, a time from childhood synonymous with holidays and joy. Now, I perceive summer as a series of transitions: advancing from one grade to the next, moving from place to place, shifting from moments of love to solitude. The joys and sorrows are etched within me, as vivid as if only yesterday, painting a poignant portrait of time's relentless march.
Motion
The motion technique in this project seamlessly blends cel animation with keyframe animation, creating an organic style that effectively conveys the authentic and native emotions of the storytelling.
