Avatar Sticker Concept
Tech / Social Media/ Illustration / Sticker Design
TIMELINE: 2 WEEKS FOR EACH ROUND; 2 ROUNDS IN A ROW
CLIENT: META
ROLE IN THE PROJECT: DESIGNER & ILLUSTRATOR
Undertaking a personal, unofficial rebranding project for Lemma Coffee Roasters, a cherished local coffee shop in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. The comprehensive branding package encompasses logo design, packaging design, social media design, and web design.
INSIGHT
During my summer internship at Black Math (2023), I contributed to a project to revamp Meta's existing avatar stickers on their social platform, tailored explicitly for Gen Z and younger users. Through extensive research on popular memes and stickers, we developed a fresh set of concepts that seamlessly aligned with the client's avatar identity. The new stickers, launched in early 2024, creatively express emotions in a sarcastic style, catering to the preferences of today's youth. These stickers are designed for use on the client's proprietary social messaging platform, providing a playful and relatable addition to their avatar toolkit.
RESEARCH
We comprehensively analyzed popular memes and stickers used on Facebook and Instagram. Our research revealed that the younger audience on these platforms is particularly drawn to content that embodies DRAMATIC and SARCASTIC tones. We noticed a recurring theme where seemingly random elements are integrated into the memes and stickers, which, though unrelated, enhance the overall appeal and humor
TASK
For the font choices, I selected Josefin Sans for titles, Roboto for body text, and Source Serif Pro for supplementary elements. Prioritizing legibility, these choices align with the coffee shop's objective to create a welcoming environment. Josefin Sans adds a modern touch, Roboto ensures excellent readability, and Source Serif Pro provides a classic contrast, enhancing overall visual appeal and ensuring the brand is approachable for all.

Conclusion & Reflection
Professional Growth Through Client Feedback
Art and design are subjective, and navigating client feedback can be challenging. Initially, I struggled with not constantly receiving positive feedback as I aimed for perfection. This project taught me that client work is about continuous improvement and collaboration until the designer and client are satisfied with the outcome. This experience has significantly shaped my professional approach and ability to manage client relationships.
Valuable Group Dynamics Lessons
Moving from solo to team projects was enlightening. I learned the importance of effective communication: being patient, asking for help when needed, responding quickly to feedback, and taking decisive action. These practices were crucial in fostering a productive and harmonious team environment.
